Abstract: Reliability is an important factor in market competitiveness of agricultural equipment.Chongqing is dominated by hilly and mountainous areas，and natural conditions and land resources are very complicated，which have higher requirements for reliability of agricultural equipment.According to results of investigation of small-scale harvester production enterprises and field use in Chongqing，present situation of reliability for small-scale harvester was analyzed from three aspects including inherent reliability，operational reliability and after-sale service quality.Based on the analysis，reliability increasing strategies of small-scale harvester were researched，and countermeasures to improve reliability of small-scale harvester were put forward from three aspects including enterprise production，user operation and after-sales service.It provided reference for improving reliability of agricultural equipment in hilly and mountainous areas of China.
