Abstract: Field survey was conducted around Sanqiao town，Xi’an city，according to sampling layout specification，sampling layout was carried out.Soil samples were collected，and then dried and ground，contents of polluting elements in soil samples were detected.Results showed that，soil around Sanqiao town was contaminated by heavy metals and As in different degrees，Cd and Hg had the most pollution level，the other 4 elements were slightly contaminated.Soil element pollution was evaluated by pollution index method and potential ecological risk index method，severity degree of potential environmental harm was in order of Cd、Cu、Hg、As、Pb and Zn.
