Development Status and Countermeasures of Lingnan Herbal Medicine Industry in Guangdong Province

Guangdong Province is an advantageous producing area of Lingnan hebal medicine in China, with rich varieties and broad prospects for industrial development．In the past more than ten years, Guangdong's Lingnan herbal medicine industry has developed rapidly．Planting areas and output values have continued to increase, and level of industrialization has continued to improve．However, there are still some blindness in selection of varieties and the level of breeding of fine varieties needs to be improved urgently．Also optimization of cropping patterns and construction of production standard systems are relatively lagging behind, and degree of industrial chain integration needs to be improved．Furthermore, resource depletion and endangerment of genuine medicinal materials is prominent．Based on this, suggestions were put forward, such as optimizing industrial development pattern, strengthening protection of germplasm resources, promoting industrial technological innovation, improving production quality assurance system, creating characteristic brands, and integrating development of whole industry chain．And these proposals may help to promote high-quality development of Lingnan herbal medicine industry in Guangdong Province．
