Current Situation and Countermeasures of Mechanized Planting and Harvesting Technology of Yam in China

As a fragile and easily broken deep-rooted crop, yams are prone to breakage, skin breakage, and damage during mechanized harvesting．Characteristics of yam biology, development and constraints of open furrow planting and harvesting technology, shallow growing and harvesting technology, and casing planting and harvesting technology, were analyzed．Several countermeasures were put forward for development of yam planting technology and harvest mechanization．
