Effects of Different Soil Conditioners on Heavy Metals Absorption in Rice

  • In order to study impact of soil conditioners on absorption of heavy metals by rice, explore remediation methods of farmland production barriers suitable for field promotion, improve quality of contaminated farmland, and achieve goal of "production while remediation", experiments were carried out in Majiang County, Guizhou Province on impact of different soil conditioners on absorption of heavy metals by rice.Four soil conditioners, namely Chuge soil conditioner, Fulibang soil conditioner, Tuwubao soil conditioner and modified natural mineral materials, were selected, using blank as control. Results showed that after treatment with soil conditioner, soil pH value increased by 0.65%-12.03%, available cadmium content decreased by 10.64%-14.83%, and heavy metal arsenic content decreased by 0.4-1.8 mg/kg.Cadmium content in rice decreased by 7.80%-44.07%, and selenium content increased by 0.004-0.017 mg/kg.Effect on rice yield was not obvious.Experiment showed that applying alkaline soil conditioner in polluted acid cultivated land could increase soil pH value, reduce content of heavy metal arsenic and available heavy metal cadmium in soil, and also reduce absorption of heavy metal cadmium by rice.
