Progress on Application of Core Materials for Wind Turbine Blades

  • Core material is one of the key materials of wind turbine blades, which is mainly used in shell, web and blade root of wind turbine blades.The core materials mainly provide stiffness and shear resistance for blades, so core materials need good mechanical properties and mechnial properties.For the foam core materials currently used in wind turbine blades, domestic and foreign research institutions and manufacturers have been carried out many studies.The progress of four widely used wind turbine blade core materials(Balsa, PVC, PET, and SAN)in performance and processing application was reviewed.
