Preliminary Study about Oriented Growth Cultivation of Maize Leaves

  • Leaves alternate is a growth habit of maize.Double elements, including quantitative character inheritance and embryo development, controlled leaf growth direction. Oriented growth of maize leaves could be achieved with human intervention spatial position of embryo in soil.Effects of planting density, row direction and cultivars on oriented growth were researched. Results showed that orientation ratio of leaf growth could be effectively improved by controlling embryo direction.Yield could be increased about 15% with planting density 135 000 planthm2.Row direction had no effect on orientation ration.Orientation ration of compact type was higher than that of semi-compact type and horizontal-leaf type.
