Effect of Different Power and Time of Low-temperature Helium Plasma on Germination Characteristics of Maize(Zea mays L.)

  • There have been primary researches about effect of plasma on seeds of crops.Researches showed that plasma could activate endogenous substances of seeds,which could increase vitality and resistance of them,increase yield of crops,promote gene expression and environmentally friendly.As the main source of silage,maize treatment by plasma processing is relatively rare.A plasma seed processor was successfully designed and developed from practical concern.Factors were set as processing time and processing power to analyze effect of plasma on seed germination characteristics.Compared with CK group,variation of germination rate was -14.00%~10.67%,germination potential was -3.33%~10.00%,root length was -45.84%~20.66% and shoot of maize seedling was 13.46%~16.07%,fresh weight of seedling was -4.77%~16.59% and dry weight of seedling was -5.17%~7.54%.
