Experimental Research on Geometrics and Mechanics of Solanceous Vegetable Seedlings for Grafting

To provide references for design of vegetable grafting robot，test research on geometrics and mechanics of solanceous vegetable seedlings such as eggplant，tomato and pepper were carried out.Test results for grafting seedling geometrics of eggplant，tomato and pepper showed that plant height of three vegetable seedlings which were in the grafting time were over 100 mm，and the seedling diameters of the most stocks and scions of eggplant and tomato are 3.0-4.0 mm and 2.5-3.5 mm respectively，and average seedling diameter of stocks and scions of pepper were 2.8 mm and 2.4 mm respectively.Average critical pressure to seedling damage of solanceous vegetable was 780-930 MPa，and minimum critical pressures to seedling damage of stocks and scions were more than 800 kPa and 700 kPa respectively.Shearing strength with inclined cutting on vegetable seedlings was less over 50% than that with straight cutting.
