Determination of total polysaccharides and total terpenes in Armillaria mellea in different producing areas

  • To develop a ultraviolet(UV)-spectrophotometry method for the content determination of total polysaccharides and total terpenes in Armillaria mellea.The content of total polysaccharides and total terpenes in the shoestring of Armillaria mellea was determined by sulfuric acid-phenol colorimetry and vanillin-glacial acetic acid colorimetry. The method is simple and feasible and also can be used to determine total polysaccharides and total terpenes content in the shoestring of Armillaria mellea. It has a certain significance for comprehensive evaluation of the quality of Armillaria mellea in different producing areas. The results: The content of total terpenes of Armillaria mellea collected from Zhaotong, Yunnan Province is the highest, and from Jinzhai, Anhui Province is the lowest. The total terpenes content fluctuates between 1.3% and 3.0%. The total polysaccharides content of Armillaria mellea was the highest in Yichang, Hubei Province and was the lowest in Yunnan. The total polysaccharides content ranged from 0.35% to 1.75%.
