Spatial and Temporal Distribution Characteristics of Rural Life Energy Consumption in Plateau Mountainous Areas of Southwest China

  • With economic developing and improving, the quantity and quality of rural life energy has been greatly improved. However, some problems, huge waste of resources and environmental pollution, and extensive use of non-renewable fossil fuels, were present. How to guide the rural life energy consumption to change for efficient,clean,environment-friendly direction is the current urgent problem. However,as one of the traditional geographical divisions in China, southwest plateau mountain with abundant biomass resources and distinctive regional characteristics received few studies to research the change of the rural life energy consumption structure in the region. Therefore,to promote sustainable development of regional rural energy in plateau mountain areas of Southwest China, the spatial and temporal variation of rural life energy consumption was analyzed through rural energy data from 1992 to 2017.The total consumption and per capita consumption of rural living energy showed characteristics of gradual change(the highest consumption year is 2008).Coal,straw and fuelwood were main types of energy consumption in rural areas. With the development of time, the consumption proportion of biogas, oil, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas,gas and solar energy has increased to varying degrees. The proportion of commercial energy has increased from 30.05% in 1992 to 57.60% in 2017,reflecting transformation of energy structure from traditional energy utilization mode to diversification, quality and commercialization. The regional distribution of energy consumption intensity basically showed characteristics of high in the north and low in the south, and the energy consumption structure also has obvious regional differences.According to local conditions,it is an inevitable choice to adopt rural energy development mode of multi-energy complementation of commercial and non-commercial energy, and focus on promoting efficient and clean utilization of biomass energy such as straw and fuelwood and solar energy,so as to promote sustainable development of rural energy in the mountainous areas of the southwest plateau.
