Abstract: Clenbuterol can accelerate growth of lean meat in livestock and poultry, which poses a great threat to people's health．Research progress of existing detection methods of clenbuterol was summarized．Advantages and disadvantages of sensory detection methods, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and high-performance liquid chromatography were mainly introduced．Rapid detection methods of clenbuterol were mainly analyzed．Optimization and improvement measures of common clenbuterol colloidal gold rapid detection cards were introduced．It could provide a basis for follow-up continuous in-depth research and development of new rapid detection technology, ensure safety of meat products on the tip of consumers' tongue, and promote sustainable development of meat processing industry．
