Abstract: Based on previous research findings, a new experiment was designed for an experiment course on Food Packaging Technology, namely preparation and performance evaluation experiment of gelatin starch composite film．With environmental protection taken into account, this exploratory and innovative experiment highlighted recent research findings in green packaging materials, and utilized multidisciplinary knowledge about food science and engineering．Most importantly, it integrated ideological and political education naturally and sufficiently into teaching．The experiment involved students' self-screening of composite film formula, quality assessment and data analysis, and writing of experiment reports similar to research articles．It included whole process of product research and development．The new experiment effectively improved students' interest in the course and cultivated correct moral values．The course has been open for three years, enjoying immense popularity among students and rich teaching achievements．
