Abstract:
Sharp increase in student enrollment at local colleges and universities could trigger a series of problems, including a shortage of space for practical teaching activities, relatively insufficient instrument and equipment resources, a shortenging of time for students to operate and use instruments and equipment, and a decline in practical teaching quality. To alleviate this contradiction, College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Tarim University has broken conventional arrangement mode for practical teaching activities and adopted a parallel mode to arrange various practical teaching activities within major, which has been put into practice. Results showed that parallel mode of arranging practical teaching activities within major could to some extent alleviate contradiction of tight space for practical teaching activities and insufficient instrument and equipment resources and improve quality of student practical teaching. This reform of practical teaching could provide a good reference for other colleges and universities to solve or alleviate similar problems.
