Abstract: Compared to plains, agricultural mechanization level in hilly and mountainous areas represented by Guizhou Province is far from adequate．With development of agricultural modernization, tobacco production urgently needs to transition toward mechanization, automation, and intelligence．Current situation of labor force and tobacco planting benefits in Guizhou Province tobacco industry were overviewed．Taking transplanting stage as an entry point, current situation of agricultural machinery and agronomy integration of tobacco production was analyzed, and 10 main issues were summarized．Future development direction and countermeasures for Guizhou Province tobacco production model were presented from aspects of agricultural machinery, agronomy, agricultural policies, agricultural services, and other aspects, respectively, to provide references for tobacco production industry in hilly and mountainous areas．
