Abstract: Maize is an important foodstuff，livestock feed and commercial crop，which has a long history of cultivation in Shandong province.At present，development of maize industry would meet great opportunities and severe challenges in face of the higher requirements of‘cost saving，efficiency，intelligence，green’in agricultural planting field，which was proposed in‘agricultural science and technology development plan during the 13th Five-Year’.In this new historical development stage，some references to be offered for high-yield，efficient and sustainable development of maize production through studies were expected，which were carried out on 3 aspects：stage development and summative review of maize cultivation，high-yield cultivation techniques，future demand for technology and exploration of strategy.
