Abstract: Straw is a good renewable energy in our country.For solving problems of straw collection after crop harvested，and realizing at a large scale，a pickup and side-beam traction baler was designed.Structure and operating principle of baler were described.Through analyzing the related problems in an example of a project，main technical parameters and some parts of design ideas were confirmed.
