Abstract: In order to ensure quality and yield of crops，a farmland environmental monitoring system was established by using advantages of the internet of things technology to achieve reasonable planting，accurate irrigation and data statistics.Through analysis of application of internet of things technology in farmland environmental monitoring，cotton planting and orchard management，it showed that internet of things technology has broad application prospects and industrial value in agricultural planting.
