Abstract: In order to identify optimum sowing date for maize in Jinzhou，and discuss relationship between leaf area index（LAI）and dry matter of maize under different climate conditions，two different maize varieties of Nonghua 101 and Danyu 39 were selected to conduct stage seeding test with eight sowing dates，and date of maize growth period，LAI，dry matter and growth rate were observed.Results showed that early planting of maize did not necessarily advance growth period.During whole growth period，in case of Nonghua 101，more later sowing date was，LAI was more higher，it had better dry matter accumulation and maximum growth rate at 7th sowing date.LAI，dry matter accumulation and growth rate were relatively low of both early and late sowing date of Danyu 39，it had higher LAI，best dry matter accumulation and maximum growth rate at 4th～6th sowing date.
