Abstract: Pump is a kind of machine that converts mechanical energy of prime mover into pumped liquid energy.It is widely used in various fields of national production.In agricultural production，application of pump covers fields of irrigation，plant protection，fertilization and so on.It has played an important role in ensuring national food security.Development history，technical characteristics and research direction of various agricultural pumps were introduced.Development trends of agricultural pumps in improving reliability，life，efficiency，expanding specifications，integrating intelligent control system，lightweight and socialized production were summarized.
